What Affects Diet?
There are many things that can affect a person's diet. Some of the factors that can affect diet include culture, physical characteristics such as body size, environment, socio-economic factors and lifestyle. Lifestyle can refer to the kind of schedule and workload one has and the food choices one makes. For instance, a sedentary person that makes bad food choices will inevitably gain lots of weight. On the other hand, if you are quite active and eat natural foods such as fruits and vegetables, you should in many respects be much healthier.
A Well-Balanced and Healthy Diet
Many studies have suggested that for a person to function properly, his or her diet should be balanced. It should not give preference to one basic food group alone as minerals, vitamins and nutrients will also be limited. Instead, it should encompass all the basic food groups, focusing on those that the body needs, for instance, vegetables, fruits, lean meats, etc. It should be noted that while food is extremely important, so are fluids- especially water. It is recommended that a person should drink at least 8- 8 ounce glasses of water per day.
Importance of a Balanced and Healthy Diet
Of course, there is no denying the fact that a healthy and balanced diet is very beneficial to a person. It strengthens the immune system as well as improves the functioning of all major organs in the body. A healthy body usually results in a longer and healthier life. No matter which diet you choose, make sure that in the long term it emphasizes both healthy and balanced food choices.
